Gee, Gene, I guess Monday's gone to hell in a handbasket since you left. Other than the slippery slope of human values, I believe you were saying something about the disservice this article does. Someone with an insider view of how the Canadian penal system actually [dis]funtions. Is it better to imagine it a place where society's debts are paid? Maybe Monday should do an in depth review of what's right and what's wrong with the justice system in this country.What I think the writer might be saying in this article is that not having the death penalty is actually more cruel.Hats off to the writer and Monday Mag for challenging pre-conceptions and making us think.
