Chickens need love, too

Now that some Victorians are allowed to have chickens in their own garden, let’s look at the responsibilities involved in raising these adorable pets.  Yes, after a while, they become pets; but you have to know how to cope with the joys and challenges of having them around.

There’s a  fabulous book: "Chicken Coups for the Soul," by Julia Hollander—  a must for any aspiring poultry keeper. Her story of trial and error is not only amusing and very helpful, but also might discourage those of you not yet ready to have live chickens looking at you, not only for food, but affection.

Keep their home well heated and they will lay eggs daily. They  also love to have their own names.
