December 5, 1989 - January 23, 2020
Geordie Charles Murray, 30 years old, died on January 23, 2020 in an accident while in Alberta with dear friends. Geordie is survived by his wife Shauna (Clarke) and their child to be born in July 2020, his parents, Ted and Kath Murray (Saanichton), his siblings Jenny Coad (Jeremy), Naomi Bullock (Blair), Michael Murray (Brenna), and Krystal Allen (Arick), his parents-in-law Rick and Robin Clarke, brother-in-law Blake Clarke, and was a very special Uncle to all his incredible nieces and nephews, and will be missed by his numerous cousins, aunts and uncles and friends. Geordie was also blessed to be loved by his bonus family: Joe, Verna, Jen, George Ellsworth and family.
Geordie was born on Dec 5, 1989 in Victoria to Kath and Ted. He graduated from Stelly's Secondary where he was mentored by wonderful teachers.
To meet Geordie is to be loved and to know Geordie is a gift; because you know you are loved unconditionally, without judgement,
Geordie's professional work was in carpentry and building beautiful custom homes. He was very proud of the business that he built, with their motto "Building What Matters" to ensure that every customer received exactly what mattered to them. Over the years he was honoured to work with Jim, Hugh, Blair, Sean and others. He worked in Vanderhoof, Calgary, Salmon Arm and Victoria.
Geordie loved the outdoors, sports and competition. He loved anything with wheels and a motor, from old trucks to older trucks, he fixed and repaired them - again and again building great memories with great friends.
He was committed to his faith community - he loved the gospel, the Saviour and his Heavenly Father, the scriptures, the teachings, and the community.
Geordie was thrilled to marry the love of his life, Shauna Clarke, where he found his home and was so very excited to learn he was going to become a father come July. All that knew him knew he was going to be an incredible Dad.
Geordies greatest passion was for people. He loved people. His smile was infectious. He cared. He had an innate ability to sense when people needed support and would reach out to make them feel loved, welcome and at home. He found joy in stopping to help people on the side of the road.
Geordie believes he learned extra compassion for people who struggle with mental health issues after experiencing head injuries in his teens. Geordie appreciated, and would want to thank, the MANY people who reached out, loved him and supported him during difficult times.
His legacy will leave us striving to provide opportunities to change people's lives, to be a strength to the young and old and to love better each day.
A funeral is scheduled for Feb 1, 2020 at 1 pm, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 701 Mann Avenue, (Corner of Wilkinson and Mann). Open invitation to attend.
We ask that anyone who has a story about how Geordie has impacted their lives, or a sweet memory to share, please email geordiestories@gmail.com. The stories will be compiled into a book for Shauna to share with the baby.
