In Loving Memory ~
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Brian Andrew Orr. Brian was born in Fawcett, AB, and moved with his family to North Saanich, B.C., as a child. Some years later Brian went back to Alberta to work for a short time. There he met his love, Dorothy. When he returned home to Victoria, the two remained close by exchanging letters, and it wasn't long before Dorothy moved out to Victoria as well. They were married in 1954.
Brian completed his apprenticeship at a young age and became a skilled carpenter, earning a foreman position early in his career. Over the years, he left his mark on numerous commercial buildings and homes in Victoria and surrounding areas.
Brian's integrity, clever humour and calm, friendly nature was enjoyed by all who knew him. He was a talented poet, a wonderful singer, a motorcycle enthusiast, and passionate about nature and the outdoors. He often spent nights sleeping under the stars.
Brian and Dorothy shared an active life full of adventure. They enjoyed boating, hiking, skiing, RV travel and trips to many parts of the world. They spent several winters as snowbirds in Arizona and California.
Predeceased by his son Darrel, Brian will be lovingly remembered by Dorothy, his wife of 69 years, his surviving children; Debbie (Kim) and Graham, grandchildren; Kelsey, Kara (Adam), Nathan, Carolyn and Andrew, and great-grandchildren; Ryler, Brynlee, Bria, and Sage.
The family would like to thank the wonderful palliative care team at the Saanich Peninsula Hospital. The kindness and care shown to Brian and his family was truly heartfelt.
There will be a celebration of life on August 12, 2023, from 2 - 4 p.m., at the Shoal Centre, 10030 Resthaven Dr., Sidney, B.C.
