It is with sadness that I, Verona Bakewell, announce the passing of the love of my life for 57 years, Ray.
He will be greatly missed by our children Faye (Scott), Lana (Murray) (former spouse Richard) and Scott (Tracey). Eight wonderful grandchildren who he kept giggling: Kelsey (Joel), Liam, Niall, and Nicole Cobbe; Nic and Maya Rahn; Emily and Kyle Bakewell. Two great-grandchildren Octavia and Svea.
"The Bear" supported his family with involvement in horses and camping. In later years, "Grandpa Bear" enjoyed cheering on his grandchildren.
Ray was a long time Sidney resident and business owner, waving as he drove from job to job. His favorite pastime was sitting in the hot sun on his patio or in Mexico with friends and family enjoying a beer.
I want to thank Mary & Gary and Henri for their support, as well as the caring staff at Eagle Park Health Care Facility in Qualicum Beach for their compassionate care in Ray's final days.
