Agnes Josephine CHAMNEY (née Stuckel)

October 10, 2016

1913 - 2016

Agnes passed away peacefully on October 10, 2016, in Victoria. Agnes is survived, and lovingly remembered, by her children: Eileen (David Heft), of Victoria; Lyle, of Calgary; Aaron (Margo née Siegel) Chamney, of Phoenix, Arizona; grandchildren Shannon, Connor, Brendan (Amanda née Kelly) and James Leddy, Sarah, Elizabeth and Kaleb Chamney, and Justin Siegel; great-grandson Ben Knudsen; all six of her siblings; and numerous nieces and nephews. The Stuckel family emigrated to the Lake Lenore district of Saskatchewan, from Millerville Minnesota, in 1919 when Agnes was six years old. She grew up on the homestead and later moved to Humboldt, when her parents retired. There, she met Wilf Chamney and the couple married when he returned from military duty at the end of WWII. The loving couple adopted and raised their three children in Humboldt. Later in life, they enjoyed their winters in Phoenix, Arizona. Agnes was a wonderful, caring homemaker: she was a great cook, seamstress and gardener. She loved being in the outdoors, in nature, taking long walks and cycling. She and Wilf travelled the world and had many great experiences. Some years after Wilf’s death, Agnes moved from a retirement community in Saskatoon, to Sidney, BC, where her daughter, Eileen, resided. The family would like to thank the amazing staff at the Gorge Road Hospital, Waterview Unit, and Doctors Troughton, Abed, Vaughan and Muller, who provided such wonderful care at the end of Agnes’ life. Agnes’ children held a private memorial for her, in Sidney, BC. Her cremated remains will be interred, next to Wilf, her husband of 56 years, in the Humboldt Roman Catholic Cemetery, in the summer of 2017. Condolences for the family may be offered at: McCall Gardens of Victoria, BC (1-800-870-4210)
