With two hugely successful summer 2022 festival weekends already under their belts, the folks at Phillips Brewing are gearing up for one last party.

Implosion Explosion is all about music discovery, bringing new acts to Victoria and giving music fans a chance to find killer nationally and internationally renowned acts they might never have heard or seen before.

The Zambian hip-hop stylings of Sampa the Great, the soul rock revue of St Paul & the Broken Bones, the subtle modern songwriter/pop flavours of Polaris shortlist candidate Charlotte Day Wilson, Canada’s Andy Shauf and the recent folk/rock hits of Zella Day will mix with local BC and Canadian acts like Nicky Mackenzie, Carmanah, Bankes Brothers and more to create a weekend not to be missed.

Mix that with improved services including flush toilets, watering stations, more food trucks with extra tables and benches, misting stations and retooled lineup management/extra staffing and you have Victoria’s premiere summer site for concert enjoyment.

Phillips Brewing’s weekend concert series, now branded as Phillips Backyard, brings festival, music and beverage enthusiasts together in a perfect music- and action-packed season.

Implosion Explosion, running August 13-14, is the final of three Phillips Backyard festivals this spring and summer. Each festival has been designed to offer a diverse mix of music genres, artists, food and experiences. Local management group, Blue Heron Music/Top Shelf Productions, produced the festivals on behalf of Phillips and looked to expand on Phillips’ history of bringing high-level talent to local stages. The festivals include international headliners mixed with burgeoning Canadian talent and rising local stars—come for the headliners and discover your new favourite sounds with your best friends in one of Victoria’s favourite destinations for live music.
