Dance Victoria in partnership with the Royal and McPherson Theatres Society presents the holiday classic The Nutcracker for free, as a special gift to every household in Greater Victoria.

Experience the magic of Ballet Memphis in Nutcracker, an enchanting, one-hour, made-for-TV holiday classic, filled to the brim with joy. Follow Clara in her adventures battling the Mouse King, and in the magical Land of Sweets, where dancers from faraway lands entertain her and her dream prince. This high-definition presentation was filmed at the historic Mallory-Neely House in the Victorian Village district of Memphis, Tennessee. The whole family can enjoy this heartwarming film from the comfort of their home this season.

“We are thrilled that our friends at Ballet Memphis reached out to us with their filmed version of The Nutcracker when it became clear we were unable to present a live Nutcracker at the Royal Theatre this year,” explains Stephen White, executive producer at Dance Victoria. “We’re doubly thrilled that the Royal and McPherson Theatres Society agreed to partner with us so that we could offer this very special film to the families of Greater Victoria for free. It’s a wonderful way to celebrate the holidays and kick off Dance Victoria’s 25th anniversary season.”

RMTS executive director Franz Lehrbass says, “Over the past 18 months, our web team has been hard at work developing our capabilities and implementing a new product to deliver digital content through our website. We’re excited to use this new capability to partner with Dance Victoria in presenting this holiday tradition.”

Ballet Memphis in Nutcracker is available from Thursday, December 9 (at 5 pm) until Sunday, December 12 (at 11:59 pm). The child-friendly film is 55 minutes long and accessible from any internet-enabled device.

Visit dancevictoria.com or rmts.bc.ca to register for free access to the film. A limited number of free tickets are available so register early.
