Award-winning Canadian comedian Ron James will be barrelling across Vancouver Island with his sharp, witty, politically charged brand of humour.

His show, ‘Ron James: Not Nearly Done Yet!’ will tackle the dating woes of baby boomers, embattled public health care, aging parents, food fads, exercise addiction, nostalgia, information overload, tropical vacations gone awry, New Age divas, homelessness crisis, climate change, corporate monopolies, gambling ads in hockey, culminating in the rise of artificial intelligence and the robot revolution.

James has been hailed by both audiences and critics alike as a master in the art of comedy and he has sold out shows across the nation.

His 41-year career began when he moved from Halifax to Toronto and joined The Second City. In the 1980’s he appeared in dozens of commercials, and television and film roles.

He moved to Los Angeles in the 1990’s with his family and joined the cast of My Talk Show, a television series for Ron Howard’s Imagine TV, which was syndicated across the United States.

The comedian then wrote a critically acclaimed, solo show called ‘Up and Down in Shaky Town: One Man’s Journey Through the California Dream’, that led him to stand-up comedy. The show would also lead to a 90-minute special on CTV’s Comedy Network.

During the COVID-19 pandemic he wrote a book published in September 2021 called ‘All Over the Map: Rambles and Ruminations from the Canadian Road’.

James would be voted Comedian of the Year at the Canadian Comedy Awards and appeared at Just for Laughs and at the Halifax and Winnipeg Comedy Festivals. He wrote for This Hour Has 22 Minutes and was cast in the award-winning satire ‘Made In Canada’. Most notably he starred in the television series ‘The Ron James Show’.

‘Ron James: Not Nearly Done Yet!’ is coming to multiple Vancouver Island stages in April including: April 7 McPherson Playhouse, Victoria; April 9 Cowichan Performing Arts Centre, Duncan; April 19 Port Theatre, Nanaimo; April 20 Tidemark Theatre, Campbell River; April 21 Sid Williams Theatre, Courtenay.
