It’s started out as a December to remember at the Osborne Bay Pub in Crofton.
The Cowichan Valley’s live music destination is hopping this month, with BerryMusicCo.Ltd. owner Patricia Berry bringing in one quality act after another every weekend.
Following up great shows from Black Angus and Eagles tribute band Eagle Eyes, Andrew McCormack’s retro night gets underway at 8 p.m. tonight (Dec. 14), with no cover charge.
McCormack has been a professional musician for 30 years and specializes in pop favorites from the 1950s to the ’80s. He’s a regular at pubs, markets and private functions around the Cowichan Valley.
Tomorrow night brings Unfaithful Servants to the stage for an 8 p.m. show. Tickets are $15. “The band — and Dylan Stone in particular — are amazing,” says Berry. “Dylan is an exceptional musician and a great person.”
The Unfaithful Servants bring an original and exciting approach to traditional Americana, folk, bluegrass and country music with explosive instrumentals, compelling story-telling and high powered vocals.
The band was only formed a year ago, but has garnered the attention of the music industry with an opening slot for Canadian folkie and Juno nominee Lisa Leblanc, and headlining slots at the Sooke River Bluegrass Festival, Islands Folk Festival in Duncan and the Canada 150 celebrations in Victoria in 2017.
The Servants are excited to announce the upcoming release of their debut album, currently being recorded at Shawnigan Lake Studios with legendary engineer Steve Smith whose credits include numerous platinum and gold albums, as well as two Grammy Award winners. The album will showcase almost all original material and is due for release in early 2019, with a tour of Western Canada and the U.S. to follow.
The last show at Osborne Bay before Christmas happens next Friday, Dec. 21 with Jack & Jay starting at 8 p.m., with no cover. Jack Gunderson and Jason Dunajski from Eagle Eyes are Cowichan Valley-based and have been singing and performing together for more than 23 years in multiple bands.
A special performance on New Year’s Eve brings back the Ange Hehr Band, with music starting at 9 p.m. That night the pub is offering a special three-course dinner for $35 per person, or come for the show only and pay $25.
