Rarely has a toy resonated so deeply with “kids” of all ages like good old Lego.
For more than 60 years the balance of creativity and meticulous skill has turned the infamous brand of plastic bricks into a world of our own making.
From Star Wars to The Simpsons to Harry Potter to the Bugatti Chiron automobile, Lego has brought some of our favourite tales into our living rooms and play places, sparking the imaginations of builders everywhere.
To celebrate the worldwide phenomenon, the Sidney Museum is hosting its iconic Lego Exhibition through March 31, with admission by donation.

The word Lego is derived from the Danish “leg godt” which means “play well.” Lego also kicked off a toy revolution and was one of the original inductees into the National Toy Hall of Fame in 1998.
Learn more fun facts about the hundreds of thousands of Lego pieces that make up the museum’s displays, guess how many bricks it took to build the Lego pyramid or catch the special presentation film on the origin and continuing evolution of the Lego building system.
The Lego Exhibition brings some 10,000 people through the museum’s doors during its two-month run, according to Sidney Museum executive director, Peter Garnham.
“It’s far and away our most popular exhibit each year,” he says.
