A concert featuring romantic favourites of the cinema and opera will provide a serenade for audience members in Sidney and Oak Bay in February.

Victoria’s Palm Court Light Orchestra performs Our Valentine to You at Mary Winspear Centre on Feb. 7 and the Dave Dunnet Community Theatre on Feb. 8 (both shows at 2 p.m.).

A swooning orchestra will offer up themes from film favourites such as “As Time Goes By” from Casablanca, while soprano Shadan Saul and tenor Sunny Shams will sing such operatic pieces as Sieczynski’s lovelorn Vienna My City of Dreams.

Vancouver-based Saul and Shams have made waves in the operatic world. The two performed not only in Canada, but also at the Czech Republic’s European Academy of Music with Puccini’s La Boheme. They are favourites of the Palm Court Light Orchestra, having collaborated with them numerous times including for 2015’s Romantic Encounters, which featured passionate operatic pieces.

Tickets for Our Valentine to You can be purchased at the Mary Winspear box office in Sidney, Ivy’s or Munro’s Books and at Long and McQuade. For more information, visit palmcourtorchestra.com or phone 250-748-9964.
