The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria presents The Street, on loan from the Vancouver Art Gallery, running June 3 to Sept. 3.
The Street examines urban life as it is experienced in Canada and across the globe. Through more than 50 works, including photographs, paintings, prints, videos and a special emphasis on Vancouver Art Gallery’s contemporary Canadian photography, the exhibit explores the urban street as a source of inspiration and different perspectives for artists.
Works from the eighteenth century to present are included, with both Canadian and international artists featured including Roy Arden, Kati Campbell, Robert Capa, Allyson Clay, Robert Frank, Fred Herzog, and Ian Wallace.
Grant Arnold, exhibition curator and audain curator of B.C. art at Vancouver Art Gallery will speak on the curatorial premise and answer questions about the exhibition at the public open house on June 10 at 11 a.m. (registration is required).
The public open house runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 10 and is free admission.
