Congratulations to Eric Dann on winning positions and accolades with his humorous resume. Word of warning: don’t submit it for public sector positions. I recently interviewed for an entry-level writing position and was asked what my previous employer would say were my positive attributes. Silence. I couldn’t think of anything. Finally, “A Sense of humour!” My chirp was met with stunned silence. One of the four-person panel interviewers replied: “Would you say a sense of humour is a positive attribute?” The interview went downhill from there. With my masters in Irish Writing from the Oscar Wilde School of Writing tucked under my arm, the school's most famous son echoed in my head: “Life is too important to be taken seriously.”
