Festival good for buskers

Re: Local buskers are enough, Letters, July 28-Aug. 3

The Victoria International Buskers Festival included over 30 local buskers and many did exceedingly well at the festival. Darth Fiddler, for example, loved his buskstop sign, says the festival was terrific and when it came to tips, he says they were up substantially.

We also invested significant marketing dollars on public education on the importance of tipping and feel this will have lasting positive consequences for our local busking community.

I would also remind the writer our “world class group” of stage performers included Sharon Mahoney from Victoria as well as other locally registered busking acts. We have considerable local talent to celebrate on an international stage and the community response to the festival has been just awesome.
