Exemptions needed
I agree that the provincial and federal taxes should be combined for a single collection, if it actually is cost effective. But the BC Liberal government's blatant grab of seven per cent more revenue by eliminating all those items that were previously PST exempt is unconsionable. Upon retirement, I cut back on all my expenditures. Since HST was put in place, I have had to cut back even more. The only items that I can't/won't cut back on are: eating healthy foods, and maintenance on my bicycle and its trailer. So, the only way I will vote to accept the HST is if exemptions are in place as they were under B.C.'s old PST regime.
