It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our loving father Ross Thomas Hathaway Martin, in Victoria, BC. Predeceased by his parents John Hathaway “Jock” Martin, Gertrude Margaret (nee Kane), his birth mother Alice “Dolla” Pembroke Sherriff (nee Martin), her second husband William Sherriff and Ross’s birth father Harold William McCullough. Also predeceased by his former partner Eva Domonkos. Ross enjoyed a wonderful relationship with Dollauntil her death in 1999. Left to cherish the memory of their dad are Colleen Angela Gerus (Nick) and Nicole Margarita Caldwell (Brian) as well as their mother and his friend, Camille Martin. Also left to mourn his passing are his dear sister Trudy Martin Lowrey (Ray) of Duncan, BC, as well as his older McCullough brothers Lawrence Mortimer of Montreal, QC and John Lee Brien (Diane Kenney) of North Cobalt, ON. Missing their beloved grandfather are the jewels in his crown, Brittany Martin, Josh Gerus and MakenzieCaldwell. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. Ross was a master chef, teacher, reader, musician and storyteller who appreciated the old ways of doing things. Above all he was a doting father and a true friend. He will be sorely missed by his family and by the many people whose lives he touched in the city he loved so well. He will be remembered especially fondly by his band of close amigos that included Russell, Steve, John, Eric, and Charlie.
Celebration of Ross’s life will be held in Sands funeral Chapel, 1803 Quadra Street, on Friday, January 20 at 3:30 P.M. Cremation to Follow at Hatley Memorial Gardens. Reception to follow.
