Margaret Caroline Tucker, recently of Sidney, left us on the evening of 23 January 2019 at the age of 98.

Margaret was born to Lynn Irvine Richardson and Caroline May (McDonagh) on 9 February 1920 in Russell, Manitoba, the second of four children. When she was ten years old her father, a service station owner, moved the family from North Battleford to Vancouver.

There Margaret attended Kerrisdale Elementary and her older brother Noel started at Pt. Grey High School. Noel's best friend there was William (Bill) Tucker. Although younger, Margaret became part of their social circle and developed a friendship with Bill.

During the war Margaret and her mother cooked dinners for servicemen stationed in Vancouver while Bill trained pilots in Manitoba. Home on leave, Bill proposed to Margaret in an ingenious manner. On a Vancouver street car, "When do think we should get married?" "Gee, I don't know." And that was it. They married on the fourth day of the fourth month of 1944.

After the war Bill became a lawyer and they moved to Calgary where they raised three children. In 1980 Margaret and Bill retired to Victoria to pursue their favourite leisure activity, golf. Margaret was a longtime member of the Cedar Hill Golf Club. Bill passed away in 1995, and Margaret moved to Sidney.

Margaret was known to have strong opinions - Bill called her the War Department. She enjoyed gardening, knitting and sewing, was a mad scientist at the stove (usually forgetting the peas), and drank 5-ounce martinis during frequent bridge games.

Predeceased by her older brother and her beloved husband, Margaret is survived by daughter Diane and sons Gary and James, sister Beverley (Harold) McKinnon and brother Frank (Dorothy) Richardson, grandson Louie Blanchette, granddaughter Raila (Jason) Duda, and great-grandson Coen Duda. We miss her.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations could be made to two of Margaret's favourite causes, the BC SPCA and the Saanich Peninsula Hospital Foundation. Special thanks from the family go to the kind staff at Saanich Peninsula Hospital.

Margaret's wish was for her ashes to be joined with those of her beloved Bill. It shall be so.

Goodnight, Momma. Sleep well.
