Geoffry Moat

MOAT, Geoffry, born September 7, 1920. Geoff passed away peacefully at Saanich Peninsula Hospital on July 17, 2018. He was a resident there for almost 1 year.

Geoff was born in Sandwich England, the only child of Walter and Kate Moat. When he finished his schooling, he did an apprenticeship to become a machinist. He joined the RAF in 1941 as an aircraft mechanic and served until 1946. He later immigrated to Canada, living in Montreal and working for the CNR as a machinist.

In 1966 Geoff came to Brentwood Bay with his friends Helen and Stan. Geoff worked as a machinist at the B.C. Cement Company for ten years, at Bamberton. He used his small boat to cross the inlet and get to work. When he retired he enjoyed travelling.

Geoff was a wonderful friend and a great neighbour. He was a good man. We will miss him.
