Douglas Edward (Doug) Crampton

March 23, 2011

Born January 9, 1970. Our family unites in announcing the sudden passing of our precious Doug after a short illness at the young age of 41. Holding vigil at his bedside until he passed in peace were his parents Glenice and Charlie Johnson, John and Jan Crampton, his sister Wendy and brother-in-law Bob Wilson and his step sister Laurel Sadgrove. Holding the hand of his mother Glenice, he took his final breath at 12:40 a.m. on March 23, 2011 and rests forever. Besides the above immediate family, he leaves his Papa, Ted Crampton; son Zachary; son Tyler who he raised as a single parent prior to his illness; step brothers Jason Johnson (Lindsay and niece Anya) and Rob Sadgrove; step sisters Diana Johnson (nephews Ben and Kai) and Shelley Browne (Jeff and nephew Evan); nephew Grayson (Laurels’ son) and, of course, his much loved puppy, Cassidy; also many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his infant sister; Grandmum, Sadie Newberry and ‘his’ Granny, Lulu Crampton.

Doug had established numerous long-standing friendships; Steve, Nadine, Sandra, Mike, Dave, Ron, Cathy, Terry to mention a few. From his drop in visits to have a friendly chat, and of late, to reminisce a little, he cherished them all.

Doug was a selfless man, would help anyone in need, give of his time and share what he had, expecting nothing in return but friendship.

Doug was extremely artistic and logical. He could fix and construct almost anything. Probably, he was best known for the vintage auto body restorations he performed for many with skill and precision over the past 20 years. His drawings were phenomenal and his poems and song lyrics meaningful, and sometimes heart wrenching…. as here (a portion only):

“Twenty years have past

They went by so fast

I still feel the same way

and thought about you every day

Loves been lost

with the test of time

But you will always be mine

So take me or leave me

I need to know

Through all the changes

it’s been a test

All I hope for you is the best”

Doug had no wishes to leave this world and us…and we were not ready for him to go. We love him more than words could ever say, and, it is not goodbye but ….

‘Until we see you again, Doug.’
