Tessa Kautzman is returning to Victoria to play a show at the Fort Cafe Sat, Oct. 29

When Tessa Kautzman left Victoria for the Yukon last year, many of us were saddened but not surprised. Her first album, Always Going Home, betrayed Kautzman’s inability to stay still for any significant amount of time; lovers were found only to be left behind in favour of Tessa’s first love, the road. Kautzman now resides in Montreal, where she wasted no time finding musicians to play on her new record, Shredded Eagle, Sad Tambourine.

Shredded Eagle, Sad Tamborine marks a further development of a remarkable talent, so obvious on Kautzman’s debut. Her Montreal band includes a variety of instruments, including an impressive horn section which compliments Kautzman’s powerful voice.

On Saturday night, Oct. 29, Kautzman will once again gather her Victoria band, featuring members of Hearse and the Pine Family, together to play yet another homecoming show. If you haven’t heard Kautzman before, be sure to check her out at the Fort Street Cafe before her lonesome road beckons once again. Doors at 7:30 p.m. Cover $7. M
