Alma de España Flamenco Dance Company is celebrating 20 years of Flamenco in Victoria with Recuerdos

Flamenco dancer Maria Bermudez is making an appearance at Alma de Espana Flamenco Dance Company's 20th anniversary Flamenco Gala, all the way from Jerez de la Frontera, Spain.

Alma de España Flamenco Dance Company is celebrating 20 years of Flamenco in Victoria with Recuerdos, a brilliant Flamenco extravaganza including singers, dancers and musicians, vivid colours, syncopated rhythms and authentic passion.

Featuring internationally acclaimed artists from around the world, this will be an evening of amazing choreography not to be missed.

Dancers Maria Bermudez and Domingo Ortega are making an appearance direct from Jerez de la Frontera, Spain. Spanish born singers Miguel Rosendo and Antonio de Jerez will be performing alongside Flamenco guitarists Jesus Alvarez and Gareth Owen and Pianist Jo Ann C. Dalisay.

Recuerdos Alma de España 20th anniversary gala happens Saturday, July 9, at the Royal Theatre. Tickets are $45 and are available at rmts.bc.ca

Alma de España is also hosting a beginner Flamenco workshop with Amity Skala, Sunday, July 10, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Dance Victoria Studios (Suite 111-2750 Quadra). Registration is $35. Email almadeespana@shaw.ca, or call 250-384-8832 to register.
