Popular Victoria band expands its annual Holiday Special in honour of 10th year

Time really does fly when you’re having fun.

Such is the case for Victoria’s Jon and Roy, who are preparing to host their 10th annual Holiday Special musical extravaganza in early December.

Two shows at the McPherson Playhouse, Dec. 7 and 8, follow a performance in Campbell River the night. The 10th anniversary of their first pre-Christmas event has even prompted band members to express disbelief at the passage of time.

“There have been so many highlights over the years and this year’s (show) is going to be one of the best, if not the best yet,” wrote Jon Middleton on the band’s website. In honour of the 10th annual special, the band added the North Island show and an extra Victoria date and shifted venues to the McPherson, he added.

While Jon and Roy ‘s set list will include material from their newest album, The Road Ahead is Golden, the guest performer list is impressive. The Current Swell acoustic trio will perform Saturday in Victoria and Hey Ocean on the Friday night here, while Blitzen Trapper’s Eric Earley, plus Hannah Georgas and Loving will be a part of all three shows.

Jon and Roy head back to Europe next spring, with 14 dates booked in March from London to Vienna.

Tickets for the Holiday Special always go fast. If they’re still available, you can find them at rmts.bc.ca. Find out more about the band at jonandroy.ca.
