It’s time to don your lederhosen and dancing shoes, the city’s salute to German food and beverage culture is coming to the Victoria Public Market this Saturday (Oct. 19).

The fifth annual Oktoberfest Stein & Dine, hosted by Roast Meat & Sandwich Shop, gives locals a chance to partake in German-inspired beers, traditional foods and entertainment and more, says Roast owner-operator Maryanne Carmack.

“It is exciting to be part of a tradition that goes back over 200 years celebrating beer and food, and we like to put our own local twist on it,” she says.

With a wide variety of craft beer and cider producers who bring the spirit of Oktoberfest to life, from Hoyne, Yellow Dog and Moon Under Water to Phillips, Ace Brewing, Merridale and Spinnakers, and a cross section of food offerings, this event brings out the German in everyone.

New elements this year are The Tonemeisters band, who will perform traditional music, and craft cocktails created by Sean Boysen.

Tickets, $49.75 including tax, get you a branded 12-ounce stein, two drink tickets to enjoy local brews, two food tickets for popular Germanic favourites prepared by Roast, live traditional Oktoberfest entertainment, giant Jenga and Connect 4 games, contests, prizes and more.

You can purchase tickets online, and find other information at steinanddine.com.
