Tiller's Folly, Aventa, Jazz at the Gallery

Tiller’s Folly, Feb 7 – The Pacific Northwest’s critically acclaimed, internationally travelled acoustic power trio celebrate the release of their new CD Stirring Up Ghosts at Fairfield Church, 1303 Fairfield Rd, 7pm. Special guests include Jeremy Walsh and Nellie Quinn.

Aventa, Feb. 8 – Aventa presents one of the first masterpieces of the 21 century – Philippe Leroux’s hyper-virtuosic VOI (rex). The composer joins Aventa, conducted by Bill Linwood, in the performance of this work, in which live electronics seamlessly integrate the various elements of the score. Leroux’s treatment of the voice is unique, triggering fascinating exchanges between the acoustic and electronic sound worlds. At the Phillip T Young Recital Hall (UVic), 8pm (pre-concert talk 7:15pm).

Jazz at the Gallery, Feb 22– U-JAM brings jazz to the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria. Today: kNu Standers with the Brooke Maxwell Trio, 2pm. Call 250-384-4171 ext 1.
