Murders on Paper Street will delight audiences at Craigdarroch Castle in November.

If you love figuring out “who dunnit,” an improvised theatrical performance at Craigdarroch Castle is a must for your November calendar!

The Paper Street Theatre Co. returns to Craigdarroch Castle this month with their popular improvised hit, Murders on Paper Street.

The six-night, eight-performance engagement runs select nights Nov. 7 to 16.

The premise? When a body turns up at Victoria’s historic Craigdarroch Castle, it’s up to a vintage cast of colourful, cliché characters to discover who did it, how it was done and...who’s next.

Inspired by best-selling mystery author Agatha Christie, this fully improvised mystery will have audiences guessing until the end!

Featured at festivals around the world, including Vancouver, London, Romania and Amsterdam, Paper Street Theatre has earned multiple awards for their innovative style of improvisation.

Under the direction of improviser and storyteller Dave Morris, the actors create improvisation that feels like theatre, a release from Craigdarroch notes.

By studying great playwrights and theatrical styles, then performing with no script, the ensemble sets out to change what many perceive improvisation to be – while some of what they do may be comedy, first it will be theatre.

Note that Murders on Paper Street takes place throughout Craigdarroch Castle, requiring audience members to travel the Castle’s 87 stairs over the course of the one-hour production.

“We look forward to welcoming The Paper Street Theatre Co., with their unique brand of theatre back to the Castle,” John Hughes, Executive Director of Craigdarroch Castle, says in the release.

Murders on Paper Street has become a perennial favourite with Castle theatre-goers and we anticipate another sold-out run for this distinctive murder mystery.”

The show runs Nov. 7, 8, 9, 14, 15, 16 at 7 p.m., with additional shows added on Nov. 9 and 16 at 5 p.m.

Tickets are $32 (plus ticket fees) and are available on Eventbrite or by calling 250-592-5323 or visiting the Castle at 1050 Joan Cres.
