ISLANDS FOLK FEST: Folk is in the air in Duncan

Three days of quality entertainment coming to Providence Farm

Organizers of the 34th annual Islands Folk Festival are excited about what they call a “dynamic lineup of artists” coming to the Cowichan Valley July 20-22 at Providence Farm.

Among the featured artists, Begonia, who won a Juno with Chic Gamine and is making waves as a solo artist these days, will be front and centre along with Canadian folk legend James Keelaghan will bring his stellar song craft and powerful live performance to the stage.

The versatile Jeremy Fisher is on tap as well, with a couple of performances for kids from his brand new children’s music album Highway To Spell, and a set for the adults from his decades-long and award-winning career.

First Nations performers Leela Gilday, Logan Staats, Leonard Sumner and world champion hoop dancer Alex Wells will also delight the audience in Cowichan Tribes territory.

Expect to see some of the country’s finest singer songwriters like Jon Brooks, Martin Kerr and local folk hero Paul Ruszel. Catch ground-breaking bands like Aerialists, The Sweet Lowdown, The Unfaithful Servants, Frander from Sweden and many more.

It’s a family friendly weekend, with a Sparkle Zone for the kids and planty of spots for camping.
