A fashion show dedicated to the ocean is coming to Victoria this Friday evening (July 19).
Organized by Canadian clothing company SALT, which has a focus on mindfulness and ocean conservation, the event, on from 6-9 p.m., showcases the designs of several local sustainable brands whose philosophies include not impacting the ocean. Attendees can also mingle and enjoy appetizers.

SALT will showcase its environmentally conscious designs alongside local clothing shops Anian and Ecologyst. Anian creates clothing inspired by nature, while Ecologyst – formerly Sitka – works to balance conservation with consumerism.
The fashion show will have three rounds, one for each brand, says Zack Wheler, who works on the floor at Ecologyst’s Victoria location. He notes that each brand has put together four looks, including an “active-casual” vibe from Ecologyst.
Local musicians An and Ben will perform during the show and throughout the evening. A silent auction will also be held after the show, with the proceeds going to the Marine Education and Research Society for its conservation efforts.
Canapes are being provided by Fishhook restaurants, and beverages from Hoyne Brewing Co. and Church & State Wines will be available.

The evening will have a relaxed, cocktail vibe, Wheler says. Those passionate about sustainable fashion will appreciate the event, he adds, but so will those who haven’t yet ventured into the world of sustainable fashion.
The show happens in the Fort Commons courtyard (entry off Blanshard or Broughton streets) behind the SALT Shop at 813 Fort St. Tickets are available online at a cost of $35, while VIP tickets are $50. Both options include appetizers and a drink ticket, but VIP ticket holders are offered reserved seating.
