The VIU Singers will perform a farewell concert as the Vancouver Island University’s music department is set to close this month.

Students who participated in the choir and combo classes will be joined by faculty members for the concert titled Bidding Farewell.

It is directed by Rosemary Lindsay and will feature the VIU Small Jazz Ensemble, along with Pippa Williams on piano and Ken Lister on bass.

The concert will be in Building 320, Room 105 on Friday, April 11, at 7 p.m. and admission is by donation.

Last spring, the university approved cancelling the music program, citing financial challenges including a multimillion-dollar budget deficit. The department closes its doors on April 15.
