Jessie Farrell to perform songs from her hit CBC TV series at McTavish Academy of Arts

Families and fans of the hit CBC TV series The Gumboot Kids have a chance to sing along with Jessie Farrell at a pair of concerts in North Saanich this Saturday (Oct. 20)

The Juno and Canadian Country Music Award-winning singer songwriter – and mom – is sharing her songs from the series with local audiences during The Gumboot Kids Live, at 2 and 4 p.m. at the McTavish Academy of Art, 1720 McTavish Rd.

“I’m excited to bring this music to the community,” Farrell says. “The Gumboot Kids is close to my heart and the music reflects that. It’s fun, it feels good and it can be enjoyed by the whole family.”

Fans will have an opportunity to meet and mingle with Jessie, Scout, Daisy and other special guests from CBC Kids, including Daniel Tiger and True from True and the Rainbow Kingdom.

Farrell, who has toured and written songs with some of the biggest acts in country music, built a loyal fan base across the country after earning major awards in 2008 and 2009. She crossed over to children’s and family music in 2011 after becoming a mother and has enjoyed success in the genre since. She has released three family albums featuring music from The Gumboot Kids, including the Western Canadian Music Award-nominated album, Sparkle & Shine.

Fans can hear Jessie’s songs in every episode of The Gumboot Kids, and watch her perform the songs in 40 music videos (Jessie & The Gumboot Kids) on the CBC TV streaming app and at cbc.ca/watch.

The 2 p.m. show Saturday is sold out, but tickets remained as of Monday for the 4 p.m. performance. Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for kids and free admission for children under three. Discounted family packs and group rates are also available. Find details online at eventbrite.ca/o/gumboot-kids-live-show-17811761622.
