Hosted by the Oak Bay Community Artists Society, the annual Bowker Creek Brush-up art show and sale returns for 2021, and it takes place on Sunday, August 8.

“We had to all stay home last year, so we are more excited than ever for this year’s art show,” says society president Flo-Elle Watson. “The artists didn’t stop working in 2020, so there is some great new work to see.”

Featured artists in the show and sale are from Oak Bay and the greater Victoria area. Attendees come from all over the region for the one-day event. The artists include painters, potters, fabric and multi-media artists, jewellery creators, porcelain painters, sculptors, card creators, photographers and more.

Over 40 artists will demonstrate their skills and display their work. The event also includes community agencies, which interact with the public and answer questions.

Music, a barbecue fundraiser and the Oak Bay Recreation’s kids’ art tent round out the offerings.

“There’s something for everyone at this event,” says Watson, “from the collector of fine art to tiny souvenirs, and families trying new artistic techniques.”

The event is held on Bowker Creek walkway between Hampshire Road and Armstrong Avenue with parking on Hampshire, at Fireman’s Park or at Oak Bay High School. The event runs from 11 am to 4:30 pm.

Artists are encouraged to apply and participate through oakbayartists.com.
