FRINGE REVIEW: Help! I’m American – a laugh-a-minute

The title Help! I’m American! is indicative of the content – comedian DK Reinemer reflects the aplologetic tone of many folks south of the 49th for what is happening in their country.  However, the show is billed as ‘only-slightly-political’ and off-the-wall humour is the main theme here.

This young guy is full of infectious energy and is good at winding his audience up, so many of the 60 minutes run like a pep talk.  And he keeps everyone on their toes with quick quizzes about a skit that happened earlier in the show.  Be warned that if you sit near the front you may be pulled onto the stage and expected to join DK in a spontaneous improv session!  Kudos to Heather, the young woman he kept dragging into the spotlight on the first night, for her shy ability to be part of the crazy action!

Help! I’m American! is a laugh-a-minute hour of fun.  Enjoy!

It runs four more times at Wood Hall (907 Pandora Street) where the tickets are $11, $9 for students and seniors, with your Fringe button.
